Putting People First
Always For Rockdale
Accessible
Doreen believes the government should never feel distant or out of reach. She has built her career on opening doors—whether to education, the arts, or mental health services—and she’ll continue doing the same for Rockdale. As Commissioner, she’ll ensure every resident has a clear path to resources, support, and solutions that improve daily life.
Approachable
Politics can feel intimidating. Doreen works hard to break down those barriers. She’s the neighbor who listens, the leader who answers your call, and the Commissioner who makes time for real conversations. Her approachable style builds trust and brings people into the process of shaping Rockdale’s future together.
Active
Doreen doesn’t wait for problems to pile up—she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work. From
spearheading long-range planning to launching programs that keep people with mental health and substance use challenges out of jail, she has proven she’s not afraid to tackle the tough issues. As Commissioner, she’ll stay active in every corner of the county, leading with energy, urgency, and vision.
Key Issues
Recovery & Diverse Housing
Homelessness is often hidden in Rockdale—families living in motels, cars, or on someone’s couch. Doreen refuses to ignore it. She’s working with community leaders, judges, and state partners to find real solutions, from grant funding to stronger wraparound services. She believes housing stability is key to safer, healthier families, neighborhoods, and communities.
Gateway to Rockdale: Where Are We Headed?
Rockdale is growing fast, with major revenues coming from data centers and other industries. Doreen wants to ensure those dollars are invested strategically—raising median incomes, planning housing for retirees, families, young professionals, as well as building a county that is attractive to all, including the next generation.
Economic Development
Property taxes can’t carry the load forever. Doreen believes smart, responsible economic development is a strong way to bring down the tax burden on Rockdale residents while improving quality of life. She has a record of protecting taxpayers while investing in infrastructure, and she’s committed to building an economy that works for everyone.
About
Dr. Doreen

Doreen Williams has always believed leadership means showing up—and she’s been showing up for Rockdale for more than a decade. From classrooms to commission chambers, she’s fought for fairness, opportunity, and community at every step.
Her story began with a father who taught migrant children and showed her that education changes lives. Doreen carried that lesson into her own classrooms, teaching everyone from gifted students to struggling students. Her doctoral work in social justice and educational access deepened her understanding of how government shapes lives—and inspired her to step into public service.
Since 2015, Doreen has been a Commissioner who gets things done. She’s led Rockdale’s long-range strategic planning, expanded access to the arts, and built a jail diversion program that’s become a statewide model. Commissioner Williams has served more than fifteen years on the Board of Directors for View Point Health and currently serves on the national advisory board for the Council of State Government’s Justice Center.”
What drives her hasn’t changed: a belief that collaboration creates solutions, and that Rockdale deserves leadership that’s accessible, approachable, and active every single day.
